Northern Hungary is a region of the country less affected by mass tourism where the interesting historical places and the untouched nature are the biggest attractions. In this region there can be found everything, from the first relics of the Hungarian tribes occupying the Carpathian Basin, through the impact of our biggest kings until the industrial history of our age. Here was prepared the first Hungarian translation of the Bible and here was built the first stone theatre of the country. A National Park has been created along the ranges of the Bükk Mountains and the Baradla Cave has become part of the World Heritage. In the historic wine-making area of Tokaj - Hegyalja the raisins have been drying for hundreds of years to become in the end a delicious liquid. The semi-deserted villages hidden among the slopes of Gömör and Cserhát Hills are reviving and becoming model settlements through preserving the artisan past, eco-toursim and the preservation of nature. Please come and visit us, learn about the value of our region.
